First Steps Day-Care (Baby Room)

Leader: Sarah Patton - Head of Daycare & one of our Deputy Managers

FETAC Level 6 Supervision in Childcare

NNEB Diploma in Nursery Nursing

The baby rooms are comfortable and well furnished with underfloor heating for a very cosy atmosphere.

There is room for everyday activities such as feeding, playing, learning to crawl or walk safely. There is a soft play area and a cushioned area for quiet times. There is direct access to our outside play area where the babies & wobblers can enjoy fresh air with play suits provided for all weather play.

All toys and books are at a level where they can be reached by the children as required, implemented monthly providing opportunities to explore, experiment, discover and have fun.

A separate sleeping room with individual cots is next door with a viewing panel between the two rooms so that staff can carry out their 10 minute checks easily without disturbing the children. A changing facility is also available in this area. The leader and staff keep meticulous records of children's sleep, eating and changing habits as well as any general observations. A diary is completed with all relevant information and sent home with the child each day.

Staff have access to a kitchen area within the main room in order to safely prepare baby formula, snacks etc. Lunch is prepared in the main kitchen by our resident cook, and brought to the baby room each day.
